Hypercar Class: Ferrari vs Toyota vs Porsche
The battle at the front was fierce, with the Hypercar class still redefining top-level endurance racing. Title defenders Ferrari AF Corse returned and revealed a revised 499P prototype to face Toyota Gazoo Racing and Porsche Penske Motorsport.- Ferrari set a fast pace in the night stages, showcasing blistering speed and good strategy.
- Toyota, whose driver line-up is full with experience, fought back in the morning with a succession of hard overcuttings and undercut pit stops.
- Porsche, after a couple of early mechanical gremlins, struggled back into contention for the podium courtesy of a safety car late in the race.
LMP2: Privateers Shine Again
Though no longer on the WEC calendar, the LMP2 category made a one-off return to Le Mans 2025. British outfit United Autosports delivered a flawless display, holding off Prema Racing and Algarve Pro Racing. The class again was the closest fought, with three cars finishing within 90 seconds after 24 hours. For those who love raw driver talent and team effort, LMP2 was not disappointing.
LMGT3: The inaugural season
The 2025 race was the inaugural for the new LMGT3 class, which took over from the ageing GTE category. Balance of performance was well adjusted to a stunning level, allowing stunning fights between manufacturers.- BMW M4 GT3, Ferrari 296 GT3, Porsche 911 GT3 R, and Aston Martin Vantage GT3 were all in with a chance.
- Team WRT and Iron Lynx were aided by strategy and reliability.
British Teams & Drivers: Strong Performances
Seventeen British drivers demonstrated strong performances in 2025:- Callum Ilott (Ferrari) saw some of the fastest night laps.
- Phil Hanson (United Autosports) delivered a steady triple stint in the morning.
- Privateer teams like Jota Sport (Porsche customer team) drew praise for perseverance in the face of mechanical woes.
